EU Regulation n. 2019/36: Food flavorings: definitively confirmed the use of the substance N- (2-methylcyclohexyl) -2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzamide in certain food categories

The European Commission has definitively confirmed the use of the substance N- (2-methylcyclohexyl) -2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzamide in dairy products and similar products, in salts, in spices, in soups, in soups, in sauces, in salads, in protein-based products and in non-alcoholic beverages, according to the concentrations provided therein.


The European Commission, with EU Regulation of 10 January 2019 n. 36 amended the Community legislation governing flavorings and some food ingredients with flavoring properties intended for use in and on foods, definitively confirming the use of the substance N- (2-methylcyclohexyl) -2,3,4,5,6 -pentafluorobenzamide in certain food categories.


Provisions envisaged by EU Regulation no. 2019/36


In view of the fact that:

  • the substance N- (2-methylcyclohexyl) -2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzamide has been previously authorized;
  • the Food Safety Authority has completed the safety assessment of this substance, concluding that use as a flavoring does not raise safety concerns based on estimated intake levels for certain categories of food;

the European Commission has definitively confirmed the use of the substance N- (2-methylcyclohexyl) -2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzamide:

  • in dairy products and similar products, in a concentration not exceeding 1 mg / kg;
  • in salts, spicessoups, sauces, salads, protein products, in a concentration not exceeding 6 mg / kg;
  • in non-alcoholic beverages, in a concentration not exceeding 3 mg / kg.
